TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) _ Michael Joiner scored 21 and Florida
State went on a 15-0 run early in the second half to defeat
Virginia Tech 78-49 Thursday.
Monte Cummings added 14 and Antwuan Dixon 13 for the Seminoles
(5-5) and, for the second straight game, Delvon Arrington
distributed 12 assists.
Florida State shot 66.7 percent in the second half as they
outscored the visiting Hokies (6-6) 51-26 after the break. It was a
much needed win for the Seminoles, who lost Saturday to American
University.
Two free throws by Cummings with 15:16 left put Florida State up
42-25 and the Seminoles didn't let up, holding Virginia Tech
without a field goal for the final 6:03.
Brian Chase and Terry Taylor each scored 13 points for Virginia
Tech and Bryant Matthews added 10.
Virginia Tech committed 24 turnovers and was outrebounded 41-33. |
