ST. THOMAS, Virgin Islands (AP) _ Edward Scott scored 25 points
and Clemson beat La Salle 81-69 Monday night in the third round of
the Paradise Jam.
Clemson (2-0) used an early 12-0 run to take a 39-18 lead with
6:30 left in the first half. The Explorers (1-1) rallied and closed
to 55-49 about 6{ minutes into the second half.
Jamar McKnight scored 13 points for Clemson and Ray Henderson
added 10 points and eight rebounds.
Tigers point guard Tony Stockman injured his knee midway through
the first half. He briefly returned, but was unable to continue.
Clemson coach Larry Shyatt said he expected Stockman to be out
for a week or two.
Rasual Butler led the Explorers with 26 points. Rasheed Quadri
had 19 points and 12 rebounds.
The Tigers advanced to Tuesday night's championship against the
winner of the game between Miami and Alabama-Birmingham. |
