RECAP | BOX SCORE

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) _ Anthony Grundy scored 20 points and North Carolina State used an early second half run to beat Florida State 71-46 Sunday, sending the Seminoles to their first 20-loss season in 49 years.

The Wolfpack (13-13, 5-9 Atlantic Coast Conference) avoided slipping two games under .500 for the first time since 1996-97 _ Herb Sendek's first season.

N.C. State was 9-for-20 from 3-point range _ its most in an ACC game this season.

Meanwhile, the Seminoles (7-20, 2-12 ACC) lost 20 in a season for only the second time in 54 years of basketball. Florida State went 5-20 in 1951-52.

Delvon Arrington and Monte Cummings led the Seminoles with 11 points each.

After beating No. 20 Maryland and playing No. 9 Virginia to a three-point game last week, Florida State's four-day stay in the Triangle area was a disaster.

The Seminoles lost by 28 points at No. 2 North Carolina on Thursday and fell by 25 Sunday with their lowest point total of the season.

After leading 38-25 at the half, N.C. State got a layup and 3-pointer by Grundy during its 15-3 run to extend its lead to 25 with 12:28 left.

After shooting 35 percent in the opening 20 minutes and turning it over 13 times, the Seminoles went 1-for-10 to start the second period as the Wolfpack won for the fifth straight time in the series.

The 12 losses in league play are also the most by the Seminoles in a season since joining the ACC in 1992.

The loss guaranteed Florida State a matchup with Clemson in the first-round of the ACC tournament in Atlanta next week in the eight-nine seed game.

Archie Miller, in his fourth game back since missing nine with a stress fracture in his left leg, made four 3-pointers for the Wolfpack. Miller led the nation in 3-point shooting prior to his injury, but was 1-for-6 beyond the arc in his previous 19 minutes of action since his return.

Miller sank two 3-pointers a minute apart during a span in which the Wolfpack went from three down to nine ahead in the first half.

Another shot from beyond the arc by Miller 1:18 before the half gave the Wolfpack a 14-point margin _ its largest of the half.

After going 9-for-14 from 3-point range against the Tar Heels three days ago, the Seminoles were just 1-for-15 from beyond the arc this time.
